Gustavo Fernández
Gustavo Fernández discovered his cinematographic vein in Medellín thanks to the film critic Luis Alberto Alvarez. He carried out image studies at INSAS in Brussels, attended the Seminar of Cinema and Social Sciences of the Maître fou, Jean Rouch, at the Museum of Man, and there he discovered his passion for direct cinema for which he later studied a Master’s degree in Nanterre – University of Paris X-.
He is an industrial engineer from the Universidad Nacional in Medellín. He is the author of 8 feature films and several shorts, with recognition at festivals and film awards, including a Mention at the 2004 National Audiovisual Award given to De(s)amparo Polifonía Familiar. Associate Professor, of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where he directed the Film and TV School. He dictated seminars at other universities such as PUJaveriana, Universidad del Magdalena, and several others. Conferences, presentations, and essays about the Colombian documentary. He has been a jury of documentary stimulus competitions at the CNCINE -Ecuador- the FDC and in several Colombian cities. He is a founding member of ALADOS Colombia.
