Juan Soto Taborda
Editor, filmmaker, and archivist. He studied Documentary at the EICTV in Cuba, he has worked as an editor on more than 40 projects including shorts, feature films, and video installations. He currently works at the Filmoteca de Catalunya as a specialist in Digital Restoration and Preservation. In 2021 the project My Father’s Prison, edited by Juan, directed by Ivan Simonovis Jr. and produced by La Faena Films, participated in the DOK INCUBATOR laboratory in the Czech Republic. In 2020 he received the Best Editing award at the BLACK CANVAS FESTIVAL for the film Intimate Distances by English artist Philip Warnell. He was the editor of the award-winning El Father Plays Himself, by Mo Scarpelli, and has been nominated twice for Best Editor at the Macondo Awards of the Colombian Film Academy for Señorita María, by Rubén Mendoza and En el Taller, by Ana Salas. His films as a director include: REVELACIONES (2020), part of the 23rd MIDBO program, PARÁBOLA DEL RETORNO (2016), ESTUDIO DE REFLEJOS (2013), NIEVE (2012), 19º SUR 65º OESTE (2010), EL BOMBILLO (2009) and ELENA DIO A LUZ UN HERMOSO NIÑO, wich is currently in production and has received the ICAA fund from Spain.
