Mauricio Durán Castro
Researcher, critic, and teacher of cinema and visual arts. Director of the Master in Audiovisual Creation of the Department of Arts of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. He was trained as an architect at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. He has a Master’s in Philosophy from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a Master’s in Culture of the Metropolis at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña and the CCCB of Barcelona. He is the author of the book La máquina Cinematográfica y el arte moderno (2009), and of chapters and essays for the books Hacer Cine, producir audiovisual en América Latina (2008); El Medio es el diseño audiovisual; Conversaciones con Bogotá (1945- 2005), among other publications. He has taught at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Universidad de los Andes. He recently published the book El cine como máquina de pensamiento y control: Aparatos, dispositivos y autómatas (2020).
