EAST OF THE ROCKIES
Joy Kogawa and Jam3
Interactive narrative with augmented reality
Canada, 2019
East of the Rockies is an experience of interactive narrative and augmented reality, written by the acclaimed Canadian author Joy Kogawa, and told from the perspective of Yuki, a 17 year old adolescent who is forced to leave her home to live in the Japanese internment camp of Slocan, in British Columbia, Canada, during the Second World War.
We are able to follow her daily life in the camp and experiment with touching, inspecting, zooming and sliding within the scene.
The installation of this work was carried out with the support of the Embassy of Canada in Colombia.
