To the moon

Tadhg O’Sullivan

Irlanda / 2020 / 76’

NATIONAL PREMIERE

The eye moon, mirror moon, door moon, being moon, amulet moon, serene moon, passionate moon, riddle moon or maybe certain moon. This filmed acknowledgment celebrates how humanity has sung to the moon and its sublime nature, mentioned in every form of art, since the dawn of time. Chants, songs, literary passages, detailed paintings, and motion pictures -especially classic films- have been knitted in a poem that upholds its pervasiveness in people’s minds and hearts. The vast archive is set in chapters synchronized with moon phases and specific moods and feelings that can be both mystical and silly, profound yet superficial. The result, far from being decaying and monotonous, puts us in a synesthetic trance. It finally reminds us that we always behold one side of the moon while she, in turn, has gazed at us all, the entire humanity.
