Urubutsin na sagração de Upaon-Açu
Alberto Greciano Merino
Brasil / 2021 / 29’
From a performative and de-colonial experience, alive bodies are arranged in public space. In the mutation of the skin arrives image, yelp, ectasis, and swallowing. The colonial wound has several forms that endure in the memory and actuality of Brasil. The register of the corporal action is blended with cinematographic, photograph archive material, and iconic images — woodcuts and watercolors—, forming and audiovisual tissue that is presented as a transmutation ritual. At the rhythm of ancestral singing —close to Capoeira— and electro sounds, the author proposes a hybrid dance of images and gestures that stares back to the neo-liberal regime.
