Long distance
Magdalena Bournot
France – Argentina / 2021 / 62 min.
LATIN AMERICAN PREMIERE
Long distance is a little happiness. The subtlety that arises from a candid reencounter between a father and a daughter. The assurance that between the landscape and silence we can drive with the placid sensation of us being well accompanied. The tenderness of recovering lost time among feminist poems and memories of days gone by. Magdalena Bournot grabs a camera, leaves France, and decides to visit her father Carlos to accompany him on a work shift driving through Argentina in a truck. Encapsulated inside of the vehicle that her father drives, the road and its stops become the background curtain in which two beings are entwined, in spite of them being not so effusive but parsimonious, although they are full of affection and a lot of love. Also, the journey will present the occupational hazards of a truck driver, their lifestyle, their environment, and their brotherhood. An intimal documentary work that avoids the big passions and delves into sincere anecdotes that spring from sharing the contained joy of being together while the clock keeps ticking.
